Lynn Rudolph
Lynn Rudolph, M.Mus. performance student at Nelson Mandela University under the tutelage of David Bester, is a resident violist in South Africa with a passion for activism and philanthropy. As a soloist, Lynn has performed in the Endler Concert Series and is the current recipient and winner of the Mabel Quick International Bursary Competition 2019.
During her B.Mus. studies at the Stellenbosch University, Lynn was awarded the Mabel Quick prize for the best instrumentalist in the second year category, in 2015. The following year, Lynn completed her Unisa Grade 8 exam (cum laude), and as a top achiever was invited to participate in the Unisa competition and placed second in the national competition, while also receiving the Hennie Joubert Vriendekring cash prize.
While completing her B.Mus., Lynn attended an international chamber course in Italy, and was selected as the section leader. During the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival in 2017, Lynn was awarded the international scholarship to attend masterclasses in New York for prospective studies, where she received masterclasses from viola faculty of the Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music and Bard College.
After completing her B.Mus. with violist and pedagogue, Louis Van der Watt, Lynn attended various international string courses, in Turkey, Italy, New York, Netherlands and South Africa where she received masterclasses from acclaimed violists Tatjana Masurenko, George Taylor, Phillip Ying, Karen Ritscher, Daniel Avshamalov, Jorge Alves, Gareth Lubbe, Juan-Miguel Hernandez and Louise Lansdowne. Lynn has recently been invited to appear as guest-professor in Mozambique for the Xiquitsi Project.
Lynn regularly appears as a member of the Camerata Tinta Barocca, a Baroque ensemble based in Cape Town, South Africa. She is also the host and creator of the online conversation series, Talk That Talk, addressing systemic issues within the South African classical music industry.
