Ghetto Queen

Born in 1976 in Kagiso, Johannesburg, and raised in Qumbu in the Eastern Cape, Ghetto Queen is a musician, writer, vocalist, teacher and Nal'ibali Funder Leader. She started writing and performing reggae at 18 years old in Cape Town in Reagea festivals at Monwabisi Beach, sharing the stage with Daddy Spencer, Crosby, Sugar, Ras Judha, Nkulee Dube, Black Dilinger, Ras Jabulani, Empress Naftali,Wise Man doctren, Jah Kongo, Empress Hotep and International artists like Vivian Jones and Ras Iqhula from Jamaica. Most of Ghetto Queen's songs are written in Swahili, Xhosa, English and Shona. She has recorded five albums and two videos and was nominated as female best artist in 2015 for her second album. Ghetto Queen's music has been played by local radio stations like Wersten Cape and Eastern Cape. She is actively involved in promoting new artists, particularly in the Marcus Garvey Community in Cape Town where they are recording Sisters Compilation volume 1. She recently moved from Cape Town to Mpumalanga to complete her education practitioner training, but she still performs in Cape Town and Gauteng. She is looking forwad to sharing the stage with artists like Apple seed, Thandiswa Mazwai, Azania Band and has already performed with Bongo Riot in festivals in Paarl ,Sunny Beach and Sunsplash.
