Amanda Lawrence

Amanda is a South African flautist who, in 2019, graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a degree in Chamber Music under the tutelage of Dr. Corvin Matei. Throughout her schooling, Amanda enjoyed performing with several ensembles and orchestras, including the Cape Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra, US Symphony Orchestra, and two of her own projects (a wind quintet and piano trio). Amanda has also participated in several renowned festivals, such as the SICMF (2018 invited guest ensemble), the Raffaele Trevisani Summer Flute School (Italy), the Galway Flute Festival (Switzerland), and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (Germany). In 2019 she performed at the Dublin National Concert Hall as part of Sir James Galway’s 80th birthday celebration.


Amanda is currently completing her Honour’s degree at UCT’s South African College of Music, under the tutelage of Dr. Bridget Rennie-Salonen. In September 2020 she will begin her Master’s studies at the University of British Columbia (Canada).
